Process

You will start by selecting one of three NEET profiles to focus on. Each profile represents a different set of skills, challenges, and opportunities. As a team, you will use AI tools to automate tasks, analyze data, and make informed decisions to create a personalized support plan for your chosen NEET.

Follow these steps to complete the task:

Step 1: Team up!

Form teams of 3-4 members. As a team, you will use AI tools for data analysis, automation, and decision-making to create a personalized support plan for your chosen NEET.

Step 2: Choose who you’ll help today!

• Lio, 19 years old:
  • Ideal occupation: Content Creator
  • Details: Familiar with video editing, social media, and basic graphic design but struggles to monetize these skills.
  • Likes: Photography, skateboarding, urban gardening, art, technology, collecting vintage cameras, activism, video game merch
  • Dislikes: Spicy food, fixed schedule, heavy metal music, rigid rules, ballet, archaism, frogs
  • Education/Background: High school dropout at 17, took online courses on video editing and graphic design but never completed them. Part-time job as a barista, where they often design social media posts for the café.
  • Known challenges: Poor time management skills and difficulty following long-term plans. Struggles with budgeting.

• Victor, 22 years old:
  • Ideal occupation: Unsure
  • Details: Skilled at navigating AI-powered apps and tools but lacks a clear career path or confidence to pursue opportunities. Uses AI-based plant and mushroom identification apps during his foraging trips in the forest.
  • Likes: Astrology, sewing, cooking pastries, pets, nature, historical documentaries
  • Dislikes: Formal education, early mornings, processed food, elevators, cold weather, reading
  • Education/Background: Dropped out of a vocational school in horticulture. Lives with grandparents and helps care for them, managing their medication schedules using health apps. Limited work experience, mostly informal pet-sitting and gardening jobs.
  • Known challenges: Low self-esteem and uncertainty about career paths. Anxiety about being in formal settings.

• Aya, 26 years old
  • Ideal occupation: Tech-related profession
  • Details: Single mom, has basic programming and data analysis skills but struggles with presenting and applying them in a professional context
  • Likes: Martial arts, SF movies, straightforwardness, discipline, graphic design, table games, philosophy
  • Dislikes: Speaking in public, sea food, politics, loud environments, reality TV, arrogance
  • Education/Background: Studied computer science but dropped out due to financial constraints after the first year. Works part-time as a cashier and takes online programming courses during free time. Mother to a 4-year-old, manages time strictly to balance work, studies, and parenting.
  • Known challenges: Struggles with imposter syndrome, often doubts her coding skills. Hesitant to network or reach out for mentorship due to shyness.

Step 3: Identify your mentee’s strengths

Choose one profile and discuss the main challenges and discover the strengths of your profile. Explore different perspectives.

• Is there something striking that stands out?
• Are there any aspects that your team disagrees on?

Take time to debate and voice different opinions about the skills, challenges, and opportunities presented. Once you have identified areas of agreement and/or disagreement, move to the next step.

Step 4: Time to become an AI-powered data analyst with AI

Use AI-based tools for data analysis to reveal more about:

• Skills and interests: Extract and visualize key skills and interests from the profile.
• Use tools like ChatGPT, Claude from Anthropic or Le Chat by Mistral (European) for this task.

Market Opportunities: Analyze current job market trends using AI tools with data from Google Trends.

BestTip: Try different prompting approaches (e.g. Help me identify skills and interests for… vs. I am a social worker helping a NEET in his return to the labor market and I need you to be my data analyst today. We will…) and compare the response you get in each case.

Confront the AI analysis with your critical thinking. Has it been helpful in uncovering areas of interest and/or skills that were not identified before? Then, create a simple data dashboard showing:

• Top 3 skills your NEET can leverage immediately.
• Top 3 relevant jobs market trends.
• Top 3 “hidden talents” your NEET can develop to unlock opportunities.

You can use AI-powered tools like Looker Studio (from Google), Canva, or Datawrapper.

Step 5: Research and select AI tools that can help your NEET’s growth

Choose 2-3 AI tools (or integrating AI) and create a brief “Tool Action Plan” covering:

• Purpose of the tool
• How it addresses your NEET’s challenges
• Steps for using the tool effectively (briefly)

Remember it does not need to be pure AI tools like chatbots. Tools like Canva, Loom, Coursera, LinkedIn Learning, HubSpot Academy… can also be of use.

Step 6: The PSP: Personalized Support Plan

Now it’s time to put everything together.

Using the insights you’ve gathered from AI tools and data analysis, you will create a Personalized Support Plan (PSP) for your chosen NEET.

• Your plan should clearly outline how they can turn their existing skills into valuable opportunities, whether through AI-driven learning, portfolio-building, career assessment tools or else.
• Identify their strengths, address their challenges, and propose actionable strategies that AI can support.

Once your PSP is ready, you will present it in a structured 7-10 slide presentation in front of your class. Your peers and teacher will then give feedback and facilitate a discussion on how AI can be a game-changer in unlocking opportunities.
