Process
STEP 1: UNDERSTAND THE SENIORS’ WORLD
How to do it:
- Create a user-friendly survey with Typeform AI – sign up for Typeform (alternatively you can use Google Forms) and create a short, conversational survey with 5–7 questions. Focus on themes like:
-
- What do you enjoy doing with others?
- How do you currently meet new people?
- What stops you from attending community events or using apps?
- What would make your life easier or more connected?
- Do you travel, garden, or look for help around the house?
Tip:Use Typeform AI to generate follow-up questions or analyze responses automatically.
-
- Analyze responses with Notion AI or ChatGPT – once responses are collected, paste them into Notion AI or ChatGPT using a prompt like: “Summarize the following responses from adults over 50. Identify the most common pain points, desires, and habits.” You will receive a synthesized output such as:
- Pains: “Many feel isolated, overwhelmed by technology, and unsure how to meet new people.”
- Gains: “They value meaningful conversations, shared experiences, and feeling useful.”
- Jobs: “Looking for local travel companions, help with gardening, or someone to talk to.”
- Organize received insights visually using Miro AI – open a new Miro board and activate Miro AI. Paste your summarized findings and ask Miro to generate a mind map of key user needs. Highlight potential service opportunities (e.g., “Matchmaking for home help,” “Community travel buddy system”).
Tip: In Miro AI you can also use sticky notes or icons to visually map common themes like “loneliness,” “accessibility,” and “independence.”
STEP 2: CRAFT THE VALUE PROPOSITION
What to do: Now that you understand SilverConnections users, it’s time to design a value proposition that speaks directly to their needs, desires, and everyday challenges. A value proposition clearly expresses how SilverConnections creates value for seniors, and why it matters. This will help the team attract users, funders, and partners more effectively.
You will use the Value Proposition Canvas to connect the dots between what users are looking for and what SilverConnections offers. The goal is to define a strong, user-centered message that highlights benefits and differentiators.
How to do it: As a first step, use the Strategyzer Value Proposition Canvas. Download or open the free online template: https://www.strategyzer.com/library/the-value-proposition-canvas
Fill out the two main parts:
+ Customer profile (based on Step 1):
- Jobs to be done: What are seniors trying to accomplish?
- Pains: What problems or frustrations do they face?
- Gains: What do they want more of in their lives?
+ Value Map (SilverConnections’ solution):
- Products & Services: What does the app provide?
- Pain Relievers: How does it reduce or eliminate the user’s pain points?
- Gain Creators: How does it add extra value or joy?
As a second step, refine with ChatGPT or Notion AI: use your Canvas draft and paste it into ChatGPT or Notion AI with a prompt like: “Based on this Value Proposition, generate a 1–2 sentence value proposition for SilverConnections, an app connecting people over 50.” Additionally, provide information about SilverConnections and their field of work – “SilverConnections helps adults aged 50+ overcome isolation by making it easy to meet, support, and share experiences with others in their community, through a mobile app.”
Last, but not least, visualize the final outcome with Miro AI: to have a visual experience, transfer your Canvas to Miro AI. Paste in your Step 1 user insights and ask Miro to suggest – “Matching features based on user needs”; or “Emotional drivers and potential messaging themes (e.g., “dignity,” “belonging,” “ease of use”)”.
At the end of this task, you will have a 2-3 sentence value proposition that clearly answers: “What unique value does SilverConnections deliver to seniors, and why is it important?”
Tip: Keep your value proposition human and inspiring. Avoid corporate jargon. If your test audience (e.g., a senior relative or peer) doesn’t instantly understand it, revise for clarity.
STEP 3: CREATE A VISUALIZATION
What to do: Design a visual prototype that brings your value proposition to life. This could be a simple mock-up of the SilverConnections app, a poster, or a visual journey map showing how seniors would use the service. This prototype helps communicate your idea effectively, both to users and potential partners or funders.
Your visualization should show how the service works and highlight how the mobile app makes the experience easier, more personal, or more accessible for seniors.
How to do it: Create a visualisation of your value proposition using an AI-powered tool. You can choose a tool depending on your skills and preferences:
- Canva AI: Design a poster, flyer, or app screen showing how the service works.
- Uizard: Turn your idea into an interactive app mockup.
- Lumen5: Turn your value proposition into a short promotional video for funders or potential users (e.g., “SilverConnections: Connecting seniors with AI-powered ease”).
Highlight key features: Focus on the most important parts of your solution:
- How do seniors find and connect with others?
- What makes the app user-friendly for adults 50+?
- What we offer? (e.g., personalized suggestions, simple onboarding, safety features)
Tip: Keep your visual design clean, use large text and simple icons, and avoid complicated navigation — think like SilverConnections user!
STEP 4: GROW YOUR SOCIAL VALUE
What to do: Now that you have defined a clear value proposition for SilverConnections and created a visualization of it, it is time to think about the next essential step – designing a growth strategy to scale their social impact.
As their consultant, it is your professional responsibility not only to help them shape their message but also to guide them in planning for sustainable development and long-lasting impact. In the world of social entrepreneurship, many great ideas fail not because they lack purpose, but because they lack a plan for how to grow, reach the right people, and ensure long-term sustainability.
That is why, as a last step, you are advising SilverConnections to develop a growth strategy – so their value proposition doesn’t stay hidden but reaches more seniors, attracts supporters, and strengthens their capacity for social impact. This is very important, as the growth strategy for a social enterprise is not just a marketing exercise, but a key part of building organizational resilience, visibility, and financial sustainability.
Design a basic growth plan for SilverConnections using the AAARRR framework. This is a popular model for customer/user development that helps social enterprises grow sustainably.
How to do it: Use the AAARRR framework to structure your plan (Awareness, Acquisition, Activation, Retention, Referral, Revenue). Align every step of the strategy with the value proposition you developed, so that the actions support what makes SilverConnections unique and valuable to seniors.
Think creatively, and remember that growth for a social enterprise means:
- Reaching more people in need.
- Creating lasting relationships with users and partners.
- Generating resources to continue their mission.
AAARRR stands for:
- Awareness – How will people find out about SilverConnections?
- Acquisition- How will seniors sign up and visit our app?
- Activation – What will make them start using it?
- Retention – How will SilverConnections keep them engaged?
- Referral – How will they invite others?
- Revenue – How will SilverConnections generate funding?
You can use the following AI tools to generate ideas:
ChatGPT: Generate strategies for each stage. Prompt: “Suggest 3 creative ways SilverConnections can increase referrals among users over 50.”
Trello: Build a simple project board with your AAARRR steps and timeline.
At the end of this task, you will have a short growth plan (max 1 page or 6 slides using AAARRR). This plan will clearly show how SilverConnections can expand their reach and impact, while staying true to their mission and value proposition.
Tip: A powerful value proposition needs a smart growth strategy to become real social change.
