Introduction
You are a consultant at Impact Drive, a non-governmental organization with a clear mission – to support the development and institutional strengthening of civil society and social enterprises working for positive community change in your country. Your main responsibilities include:
- Building the organizational capacity of social enterprises and NGOs;
- Supporting the establishment of an independent and sustainable civil society in your country;
- Working with citizens and civil society actors to promote civic engagement, advocacy, monitoring, and impact assessment;
- Promoting the use of new technologies, such as AI, in the training and development of social enterprises.
- A key part of your organization’s work is helping emerging social enterprises articulate a strong value proposition, one that clearly communicates the unique social impact they create and allows them to grow sustainably, attract supporters, and reach those who need them most.
One morning, you receive a request for support from a small but ambitious local social enterprise called SilverConnections. It was founded by three enthusiastic young people, named Lena, Kai, and Mia, who have developed a mobile application designed to support people over 50. Their aim is to reduce social isolation by facilitating opportunities for shared travel, household support, friendship, and community gardening among adults.
Their idea is impactful, and their mission is clear – to bring purpose and connection back into the lives of seniors who often feel left out in an increasingly digital and fast-paced society. However, SilverConnections is currently facing serious challenges. They are struggling to:
- Clarify their value proposition and lack of clarity on how to effectively communicate the value of their service to both users and funders;
- Reach more users;
- Convince funders of their impact;
- Strengthen their overall institutional capacity.
During the initial consultation with you, the SilverConnections team shares a concern: “We know seniors are interested, but we struggle to explain what makes our service different, and funders need more than passion, they need proof.” They can’t clearly explain why someone should use their service, what makes it special, or how to convince donors, users, or partners to get involved. They don’t lack heart – they lack clarity.
The team shares that they are eager to try a new approach. They are particularly interested in how artificial intelligence (AI) can help them better understand user needs, refine their messaging, and optimize their outreach.
That is where you come in.
As part of this WebQuest, you will take on the role of SilverConnections advisor. Using AI tools and the Value Proposition Canvas, you will support SilverConnections in developing a clear and compelling value proposition for their social enterprise.
